Hamburg, 13 October 2026. The Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA), Germany’s Institute for Federal Real Estate, will in future rely on the Immomio platform to digitalise the allocation of its flats.

Digital application and letting process for federal employees

With the Immomio platform, the Bundesanstalt für Immobilienaufgaben (BImA) aims to digitalise its letting processes: in future, flats are to be allocated faster, more transparently and in a more targeted way, while manual effort is reduced. Federal employees looking for a flat benefit from simple, digital access to affordable housing – with a clear application status and shorter waiting times. For the market, BImA’s decision is also a signal: digital letting works even in the strictly regulated public sector. With more than 10 years of experience, Immomio thus positions itself as a proven, secure solution for public, cooperative and private housing companies alike.

“The fact that the federal government, through BImA, has chosen Immomio is a strong vote of confidence – and shows that our solution meets the highest requirements for security, data protection and scalability.”
Nicolas Jacobi, Managing Director of Immomio

The largest public housing player with a clear digitalisation strategy

BImA is the federal government’s central real estate company. It comes under the remit of the Federal Ministry of Finance, is headquartered in Bonn and was established in 2005 by the BImA Establishment Act (BImA-Errichtungsgesetz). Through its housing welfare programme (Wohnungsfürsorge), which was set up as early as 1950, BImA provides federal employees throughout Germany with affordable housing close to their place of work. Its portfolio currently comprises around 64,500 flats at more than 500 locations across Germany – BImA’s own flats as well as properties owned by third parties for which BImA has acquired occupancy rights. Its core task in the housing sector is housing welfare: affordable housing primarily for federal employees, supplemented by letting to federal authorities and third parties. This makes BImA one of the largest public housing players in Germany, acting on behalf of the federal government.

Outlook

With the digital letting process, BImA will be more modern and innovative in this area.

“The new software will increase transparency, reduce media discontinuities and improve collaboration across departments and locations. In future, our employees will be able to work in a central, digital workspace, reducing manual and redundant data entry.”
Christian Lüdtke, Head of the responsible Housing division, BImA
